What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is an injectable form of poly-L-lactic acid that is used as a dermal filler on both the face and body. Poly-L-lactic acid is a biodegradable substance that has been used in medicine for decades. In Sculptra it is in the form of a powder that is later diluted in sterile water and which triggers the production of new type 1 collagen in the tissue where it was applied, causing the skin and subcutaneous tissue at the application site to visibly tighten. As a result, the face looks rejuvenated, sunken areas of the face look fuller. It also indirectly reduces the depth and prominence of wrinkles on the lower half of the face, such as nasolabial folds and marionette wrinkles.
Sculptra is a particularly interesting type of filler, or collagen biostimulator, as it allows us visible, natural and concrete results that last an enviably long time, namely 2 years.
About the procedure
Sculptra in a diluted form is gently applied under the skin with a blunt needle or cannula, which makes the procedure minimally painful and takes a total of about 30 minutes. As with all interventions in aesthetic medicine, it is important that you are healthy at the time of application and that you follow the instructions that you also receive in written form after the procedure.
Immediately after the injection, the treated area of the face or body is well massaged. It is important that you massage this area yourself in the same way, for another 5 days, 5 times a day, for 5 minutes. After the procedure is completed, you can return to your daily activities. Due to the method of application, it is possible that temporary bruising, mild pain or mild redness may appear at the injection site.
For those over 40, in most cases the Sculptre application needs to be repeated. How many repetitions are necessary is determined by the doctor during the first examination.
How to choose the right type of facial biostimulation?
Nowadays, there are so many different aesthetic procedures available. "Which one of them is right for me?" is a question often asked by our patients. The doctor's role is to suggest the most appropriate method or combination of them based on your skin type, facial condition, expression of wrinkles, lifestyle. Nowadays, with the right approach, it is possible to slow down or even stop the visible signs of aging on the face. And yet, there are no miracles, facial rejuvenation is a long-distance race that requires time and our perseverance.
Combination of different rejuvenation methods
Do you want a procedure with Sculptra, but have you recently had another type of filler applied? For the doctor, information about your past aesthetic procedures is crucial. Sufficient time must elapse between various aesthetic procedures to avoid unwanted effects. That's why the first examination and consultation are extremely important. This is when the doctor makes a strategic plan for your rejuvenation.
