What is it?
Laser ablation is a quick and safe procedure which enables us to remove skin lesion without any scarring. With this method we can remove all benign skin lesions except birthmarks:
- sebborheic kerathosis,
- all type of fibromas,
- viral warts on palms and soles,
- mollusci contagiosi,
- xanthelasma,
- sun spots,...
How does it work?
Fotona’s Er:YAG laser has the property of absorbing in water. The most superficial cells of the skin are made up mostly from water. When we direct the laser beam towards a skin lesion, it causes cell vaporization and ablates the desired skin cells without harming the surrounding structures.
In hands of an experienced doctor, laser enables incredible control over the depth and size of skin ablation and that is the reason why ablation is so precise and why other structures remain intact. The wound heals quickly and there is no scarring.
At home
In some cases there you will notice a small burn-like wound after the procedure. This is transient. Keep it covered and dry for 24 hours. It will form a crust afterwards. We recommend using a Bepanthen cream until this crust peels off by itself.
Important!
For those patients, who are taking anticoagulant and antiplatelet medication, there is no need to adjust your medication regime prior to this treatment.
First appointment
Upon arrival, each patient first undergoes a clinical and dermoscope examination of the skin or vascular lesion, according to which the proper procedure is chosen.
