About the procedure

Before laser treatment, we first perform a consultation and assessment of the vascular lesions to determine whether laser therapy is appropriate. If venous insufficiency is suspected or more pronounced varicose veins are present, we recommend further diagnostic evaluation and, when necessary, treatment of the underlying venous condition before aesthetic treatment.

Laser treatment can effectively address dilated capillaries and smaller visible veins on the legs. Suitability depends on the type, depth and characteristics of each vascular lesion.

For optimal results, several treatments, most commonly 2–4, are usually required. The number of sessions and the intervals between them are determined individually according to the extent of the vascular lesions and the response to treatment.

During the procedure, you may experience stinging, warmth or mild to moderate discomfort. We minimise discomfort with intensive skin cooling, so additional anaesthesia is generally not required.

How does it work?

Laser light is selectively absorbed by haemoglobin in the blood. The energy is converted into heat, causing controlled heating and closure of the blood vessel while preserving the surrounding tissue as much as possible.

Smaller capillaries may disappear immediately after treatment, while larger vessels gradually become less visible and fade over the following weeks as the body naturally clears them.

What can you expect after treatment?

Following treatment, redness, mild swelling and small bruises may occur. Larger or deeper treated vessels may temporarily darken and remain visible for several weeks.

For a few days, avoid strenuous exercise, hot baths, saunas and excessive heat on the treated area. Consistent sun protection with a high SPF (SPF 50) is also important.

Laser treatment of capillaries and smaller leg veins is generally performed from autumn to spring, when sun exposure is lower.

Aftercare

After treatment, you will receive individual aftercare instructions. Depending on the size and type of vessels treated, we may recommend compression stockings, and when necessary, the doctor may prescribe appropriate topical treatment.

Proper aftercare and following the instructions are important for good healing and optimal results.
