What is it?
PRP is the most natural esthetic method. It takes advantage of our body’s own elements to restore the lost facial volume and skin firmness. With PRP method we rejuvenate the face by using the most precious blood contents. These are called platelet rich plasma- PRP. PRP contains stem cells, growth factors and platelets, all of the factors that play an important role in tissue regeneration.
We benefit from these blood contents by injecting them in the skin of the face, neck or hands thus inducing collagen deposition, elastin formation and overall rejuvenation in these areas.
The platelet rich plasma has been used for many years in the field of plastic surgery, orthopedics, dentistry as well as with soft tissue and other type of implants.
About the procedure
First 10 - 20 mL of your blood is drawn. The procedure is identical to the standard blood drawing procedure and is not painful. The blood ingredients are then separated by a procedure called centrifugation and undesired blood components are removed. What is left is platelet rich plasma. The product is injected directly below the skin with a thin needle in areas with wrinkles, scars and lost facial volume.
The treatment is extremely safe, mostly because there is no fear of any type of allergy. During the procedure you can feel some pain, which is minimized with ice and a local anaesthetic cream. Side effects are transient and mild. Most oftenly observed are small local bruises in the injected area.
Visible changes are noticed already after the first injection, but maximum effect is seen 2 months after the procedure. The skin is firmer, smoother and looks younger. You can expect the results to be visible for a year to year and a half. To improve the result it is suggested to repeat the procedure.
