How does it work?
For tattoo removal, we use the advanced Fotona QX MAX Q-Switched laser. Using very short nanosecond pulses, laser energy selectively targets the tattoo pigment and breaks it down into smaller particles, which are then gradually cleared by the body over the following weeks and months.
QX MAX offers multiple wavelengths, allowing us to treat black and dark tattoos as well as many coloured tattoos, including red, orange, blue and green pigments. Yellow and some very light pigments are not treated with laser.
Every tattoo is different
The success of tattoo removal depends on the colour and composition of the pigment, its amount and depth, the size and age of the tattoo, its location on the body, and whether it was professionally or amateur applied.
We therefore assess each tattoo before starting and create an individual treatment plan. Complete removal cannot be guaranteed for every tattoo.
Fractional technology – an additional advantage
For more challenging tattoos, treatment can be enhanced with a fractional laser handpiece, allowing more effective treatment of complex and deeper pigments.
This approach can be particularly useful for densely pigmented, resistant, multicoloured or previously treated tattoos.
How many treatments are needed?
Tattoo removal is a slow and gradual process. In general, you should expect at least 5–6 treatments, while professional, larger, densely pigmented or multicoloured tattoos may require 8 or more sessions.
Intervals between treatments may range from several weeks to approximately three months. During this time, the body continues to clear the fragmented pigment, so the tattoo gradually fades between sessions.
About the treatment
During the procedure, you may experience stinging, a burning sensation or brief discomfort, which we reduce with cooling and, when necessary, a topical anaesthetic cream.
After treatment, redness, swelling, temporary whitening of the skin and pinpoint bleeding may occur, followed by small blisters, crusting or peeling.
Are you concerned about other pigmentation?
Fotona QX MAX can also be used to treat various pigmentation concerns, including sun spots, age spots, café-au-lait spots, post-inflammatory pigmentation and other hyperpigmentation.
As not all pigmentation is the same, we first assess the condition and select the most appropriate laser or combined treatment approach.
Aftercare
The treated area should be cared for gently and consistently protected from the sun. Crusts or blisters should not be picked, and strenuous exercise and excessive sweating should be avoided for the first few days.
After each treatment, you will receive detailed aftercare instructions. Our aim is to achieve the best possible result while preserving the quality of the skin.
