What is it?

Onychomycosis is the most common disease of the nails and occurs in about 10% of the adult population. Fungal infection can affect toenails or fingernails, but toenail infections are particularly common. Though not harmful for health, it is an unpleasant condition since it destroys the nails and makes them look unappealing.

The solution

There are only three options to treat onychomycosis: 

• topical agents like creams, sprays, etc. Usually uneffective since they don’t penetrate deep enough into the nail bed,
• systemic treatment with pills, which can be hepatotoxic and have a complicated and prolonged scheme of administration,
• laser treatment of fungal nail infections is a pain-free, safe and simple procedure that effectively removes the parasitic fungi from the infected nails.

How does it work?

The laser beam causes heating of the nail bed and therefore stimulates the destruction/apoptosis of parasitic fungus. The natural growth and immune processes of the body are then able to restore the nail to its pristine state. Laser treatment, compared to traditional methods, is neither limited by chemical diffusion as are topicals, nor by hepatoxic side effects as is the case with oral medications. It is therefore an excellent choice of treatment.

About the procedure

The treatment is safe, painless and last approximately 10 minutes. For complete elimination of nail changes we suggest 4 visits in one-week intervals which are repeated after a monthly pause. There are no restrictions during the treatment sessions. There are no side effects.
