What is it?

Blefaroplasma is a non-invasive treatment of the eye contour and eyelid, which allows to correct defects such as drooping eyelids and eye bag fat deposits, which make the eyes look tired and aged, thus improving the appearance of the face.

This is a non-invasive treatment with no bleeding or suturing that serves as a an alternative to classical surgical blepharoplasty. The plasma generated by the ionization of the gas creates a sublimation of superficial tissues, stimulates the formation of new collagen thus creating a lifting effect.

The advantages of the treatment are:

  • return to the social life in a short time
  • economically cheaper treatments than traditional surgery,
  • visible results from the first session,
  • safe protocols,
  • high precision.

About the procedure

First local anaesthetic is applied topically or with an injection to each patient, after which the following process is performed, described in more detail in the video below. The procedure takes about 30 minutes. The treatment is repeated after one moth.

Immediately after Blefaroplasma there is redness and swelling which are most prominent 2nd and 3rd day after the procedure. The swelling gradually subsides and small crousts occur, which usually fall of the 4th or 5th day after the treatment. It takes a few more weeks for the skin to completely heal. Before and after the treatment each patient is given instructions for the skin care regimen that will enable skin to heal optimally. In rare cases prolonged redness, hypo or hyper pigmentation persist. The treatment is repeated after 2 or 3 months, the results last from 2 to 5 years, which depends on the skin age and quality.

Contraindications for the treatment are:

  • skin inflammation in the treated area,
  • malignant skin tumor in the treated area,
  • therapy with photosensitizing drugs,
  • patients with pace-makers, other electronic devices or metal implants.

When do we perform the treatment?

The procedure is carried out in the autumn, winter or early spring in order to avoid sun induced hyperpigmentations of the treated skin area after the treatment. In some patients which are very prone to skin pigmentations, skin is preconditioned with mesotherapy or high potency retinol prior to the procedure.

Who is a good candidate?

Blepharoplasma is specially recommended for those people that have problems with:

  • aged skin around the eyes and concomitant chronic swelling in the eye to cheek area, limfoedema and festoons,
  • mild to moderate sagginess and loose skin of the upper and lower eyelid.
