What is it?

Plasmage® is a minimally invasive treatment using plasma energy, designed to improve the appearance of loose skin, particularly in the delicate eye area. It is most commonly used to tighten the skin of the upper and lower eyelids and rejuvenate the eye area.

During the procedure, plasma energy acts very precisely on the surface of the skin, causing controlled tissue sublimation. This results in skin contraction while stimulating skin renewal and new collagen production. The effect therefore continues to develop gradually over the weeks and months following treatment.

Plasmage® does not replace surgical blepharoplasty in cases of significant excess skin, but it can be an excellent non-surgical option for mild to moderate eyelid skin laxity.

About the procedure

 The treatment usually takes approximately 30 minutes. Before the procedure, a local anaesthetic is applied to make the treatment as comfortable as possible.

Following treatment, redness and swelling are expected and may be more pronounced on the second and third day. Small crusts form on the treated areas and gradually fall off over the following days. The skin then continues to regenerate, while new collagen formation takes place over the following weeks and months.

Depending on the condition of the skin and the desired result, more than one treatment may be required. The interval between treatments is determined individually.

After the procedure, you will receive detailed instructions regarding skin care and sun protection, as appropriate aftercare and consistent use of a high SPF are important for optimal healing.

When do we perform the treatment?

Plasmage® is generally performed during autumn, winter and early spring, when UV exposure is lower. This helps reduce the risk of unwanted pigmentation following treatment.

For skin that is particularly prone to pigmentation, we may also recommend appropriate skin preparation before the procedure, tailored individually following consultation.

Who is a good candidate?

Plasmage® is particularly suitable for people with:

• mild to moderate laxity of the upper eyelid skin
• loose skin of the lower eyelids
• fine lines and signs of ageing around the eyes
• a desire to refresh and rejuvenate the eye area without surgery

Before treatment, we always perform a consultation and assessment of the skin, as Plasmage® is not suitable for every degree of eyelid laxity. In cases of more significant excess skin, surgical blepharoplasty may be a more appropriate option.

When is the procedure not performed?

The procedure is not performed in cases of active inflammation or infection of the skin in the treatment area, or in the presence of certain other medical conditions or contraindications. Suitability for treatment is therefore always assessed individually before the procedure.
